Stuck at the Same Speed?

I was too… until I found something that for some reason, nobody else was talking about.

Instead..

They All Preach the Same Things That Don’t Work

Generic “slow and accurate” speed exercises are ideal… when you’re first starting out.

Then you hit your speed plateau - that’s when you get stuck, no matter how hard you practice, or how many “tricks” you try.

It happened to me too…

Of course, getting better takes time. But when you don’t understand why you’re not getting better, you start playing in circles.

And muscles don’t need practice, they need training…

Muscle Memory Can Work With You

or Against You

Sprinters:

Train with resistance bands for explosive speed…

Pitchers:

Train with weighted balls to throw faster…

Swimmers

Train their lungs to hold more oxygen for racing…

So why wouldn’t guitarists train their hands?

Your hands are muscles, and muscles only adapt to what you demand of them.

Practice slow, and you’ll get good at playing slow..

Practice fast, and get good at playing fast.

But only if your muscles are able to keep up.

In other words…

It’s Not About Practicing More,

It’s About Practicing

For Speed

… And Modern Science Agrees…

In a 1997 peer-reviewed study on motor skill development, participants who practiced with speed vastly outperformed those who practiced slow.

The slow-practicing group didn't get faster.
The fast-practicing group didn't get sloppier… they just got better.

Hey, I’m Roy.

I’ve been teaching guitar for over 10 years. And I’ve been playing for a whole lot longer.

Some of my solos have been featured in Guitar World and MusicRadar.

I’ve spoken at Berklee College of Music.

My guitar solo videos have amassed millions of views across social media.

And guess what, I hit the same wall you’re hitting right now.

No matter how many hours I practiced, or how many new exercises I tried, everything would fall apart when I’d pick up speed.

That’s when I dug into the science and learned how muscles actually adapt to speed, and everything changed.

So I sped up my practice sessions in a super specific way that helped me fast forward through the confusion and quickly accelerate my playing speed.

Guitar Speed Builder works - not because I say so, but because 6 years and thousands of students later, it’s still the only method that consistently moves the needle.

Hello everyone! I am new here... Always struggled with alternate picking speed when crossing strings from the very beginning of my guitar journey. As I became more advanced this shortcoming led me towards focusing on learning music by players like Joe Satriani and Marty Friedman who are more legato/economy/sweep oriented when it comes to their faster runs.

However, after starting Roy's speed-building course just under a month ago I have managed to increase my alternate picking speed by about 20-30bpm across the board! I am also really enjoying all the different exercises and I commend Roy Ziv for the excellent work he has done in putting this course together!

Been doing the speed builder for about 3 weeks now, been a HUGE improvement in how fast and clean I can play across the fretboard. Gone from 120-140ish BPM for the basic exercises to like 180-200 now in about 3 weeks. Highly recommend!

This methodology is amazing, after buying more than 3 online trainings nothing seemed to work in the past

2 months ago I started this training, 90 bpm at the main excercise, and I couldn't do even 70 bpm properly on chromatic scales ... always cramped

Now, I reached 140 bpm in the main excercise (without even getting tired) and 90 bpm in the chromatic scale.

Those of you who still question this method: don't. My experience is just to have faith and stick to it and progress slowly. Do ALL exercises, they complement each other.

(Btw, I practice only 3 to 4 days a week, 1 hour every time to give my hands time to rest and assimilate the results of hard training)

Thanks Roy Ziv!!

I'm on day 9 into the Speed Builder. 9 days ago I can barely alternate pick at 100bpm; now I can play quite complex lines at 120bpm-130bpm and do burst exercises at 190bmp. It really encourages me to practice more (some days I wake up at 4:30am because my fingers need some workout haha). This course is godsend. I wish it was around when I picked up the guitar 13 years ago. It just works!

Hey, i bought the guitar speed builder recently and the results are awesome.

I slightly modified the routine proposed by Roy Ziv and the results are even more stunning. Personally, I did some chromatic exercises but the majority of my work was based on short cuts belonging to a bigger lick, as Roy Ziv said in the 7 tips to make the more of GSB. After 15-20 minutes of training (following sets, cycle, reps ect...) I increased my speed on this lick 30 bpm faster!!

Of course I can't reach the speeds of Roy Ziv 😄 This guy is just too crazy. But 30bpm in 15 minutes is just amazing! Thank you so much Roy Ziv !!!

Hey Roy, this is my personal big THANK YOU for your work. I'ma professional musician and I know that there are thousands of instructors out there claiming to help people to play better. I was struggling to break my limit and it was like years I couldn't get to "that" speed I needed in my fingerstyle playing. Your explanation of your method makes sense, so I tried to give it a shot, and I rarely do... Well...surprise...and since I'm a guitar instructor too, I kinda adapted your method to my fingerstyle routine and, man...in just one week I made more progresses than in one year of my old routine! AMAZING!!! And I'm trying to use it with my students also and it works! So thank you so much. You're the man!

You’ll Stay Stuck Until You Change

How You Practice

You wouldn’t be here if you weren’t passionate about playing. But unfortunately, it’s not about practicing more, it’s about training your hands with the proper method .

And you already know what staying stuck feels like… it sucks!

But if you haven’t picked up speed yet, you’ll keep hitting the same walls..

and more of the same practice won't fix it.

The players who break through aren't “better” than you, and they aren’t necessarily practicing more either.

They just found a method that works with their muscles instead of against them.

That's all this is.

Over ten years of teaching and millions of social media views, this is STILL same method I still use on my own playing today — packaged into a course you can start tonight and feel working within a few weeks.

On average, players increased their speed by 30 BPM within the first year of taking this course, and some players see 10 BPM increase within the first few weeks.

And if you don't? Full refund. No questions. No forms.

You've already spent years on the wrong approach.

This one comes with a guarantee.

Hey. Thanks for the add. Been playing for 20+ years. So I'm not terrible. But could never break down like the 16s at more than 100bpm. After just two practice sessions I'm at 110 comfortably. And look to move to 120 soon.

Thanks Roy. The short rest to reup the stamina was the key for me.

Hey guys. I started the speed course about 2 weeks ago and I'm seeing constant improvement.

I never thought of practice as training. My speed stamina has greatly improved. I keep track of my highest accurate speeds and I'm increasing 2-3 beats daily.

This method makes so much sense!

Thanks Roy!

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this actually work?

Yes. Over the past 6 years, thousands of players have gone through this course. I use this exact method in my own playing, and I've taught it to professional and touring guitarists I know personally. It isn't a gimmick — it trains your picking hand the same way an athlete trains a muscle, so the results show up whether you're a weekend hobbyist or a pro. The method just makes sense once you see it. (And if you want proof, just read through the reviews on this page.)

How fast will I actually get?

It depends where you're starting from, but here's what's typical: on average, players increase their speed by about 30 BPM within their first year, and many see a 10 BPM jump in just the first few weeks. Plenty of students gain far more, far faster — read the reviews and you'll see exactly what that looks like. The biggest difference is that you'll have a clear system to track, so you'll know you're improving instead of guessing.

I've been stuck at the same speed for years — can this break my plateau?

Usually yes — and often quickly. A plateau after you've already built up real speed on your own is the exact problem this method was designed to crack. There's a specific, proven approach inside the course — one most players have never tried and honestly don't expect — that gets your hands past the ceiling they've been stuck at. It's the part students tell me surprised them the most.

If that's you, you'll typically pick up 10 BPM or more in the first few weeks. From there, the faster you get, the more gradual each gain becomes — that's normal — but the method keeps pushing your ceiling higher. The "how" is exactly what the course walks you through.

I just started playing guitar and want to play fast. Will this course help me?

This course is designed for players with at least 1 year of experience. You should be able to play scales up and down, play a few solos, alternate pick, and read tabs.

If you're unsure, you can always try the course — and if you feel it's too difficult or beyond your level, we'll refund you the full amount.

Will this work on acoustic guitar too?

Absolutely! The techniques and practices apply to both electric and acoustic guitars. (We've even had student success on bass!)

Please keep in mind: this course was created with the electric guitar in mind, so a lot of the licks and sequences use higher frets that are hard to reach on acoustic. In that case, just play those sections an octave lower.

What exactly am I getting?

You're getting access to an online course — a series of videos and course material, organized in a structured way for you to watch whenever you have time.

It's a self-paced learning experience with unlimited online access, viewable on any device, whenever you want — phone, tablet, iPad or laptop.

As soon as you sign up, you'll get instant access to all the content.

How long is the course?

The course is about 3 hours long — but you don't have to get through all 3 hours to start with the exercise routine.

Once you understand the method and learn the routine, you can start practicing right away while you slowly work through the rest of the course at your own pace.

Can I download the files to watch offline?

This course is entirely online, so you'll need an internet connection to access it. You can download all the sheet music, tabs, and Guitar-Pro files for the licks, exercises and songs — but the videos can only be viewed online.

How long do I have access to the course?

You get lifetime access to the course, including all future updates. That means you can buy today and work through it whenever you have time. No rush.

Is this a one-time payment, or a monthly membership?

It's a one-time payment for lifetime access. There are no monthly fees or extra charges after you pay once.

What's the refund policy, and how do I get a refund?

30-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. Try the course for 30 days, and if you don't think it's worth it or you don't improve, just ask for a refund:

  1. Email our support team at [email protected]
  2. Your refund will be processed within the next few hours.
  3. It then takes about 1–7 business days for your bank or PayPal account to receive the refund.

Very simple :)
